Saharia's Story
As the festive season approaches, we all look forward to the joy of decorations, favorite movies, and celebrations with loved ones. This year, one family will be celebrating even more—thanking the incredible impact of a cochlear implant on their daughter, Saharia. At just nine years old, Saharia, who lives on the Gold Coast with her parents, Meisha and Yoanis, and younger sister Amaraia, loves reading mystery novels, dancing, and roller skating. Sadly, she was diagnosed with severe to profound hearing loss shortly after birth and, despite having some hearing in her left ear, faced challenges as her hearing further declined. Thanks to ongoing support from Hear and Say, Saharia has received the necessary speech therapy and guidance throughout her journey. In December, she will be undergoing cochlear implant surgery on her left ear, a procedure that can dramatically improve her quality of life. This Christmas, we invite you to support families like Saharia's by making a donation to Hear and Say, enabling us to provide the sound of hope to children across Queensland.
